As Patent Engineer/In-house Patent attorney, you will contribute to securing IP rights for innovative solutions and navigating the ever-evolving patent landscape to make sure Mips is at the forefront.
About the role
Our Patent Engineer is leaving for new endeavours and we are now seeking his replacement. Being a part of a small IP department, you will be involved in the entire spectrum of intellectual property matters but with a focus on patent work. Depending on your qualifications and background, the role is adaptable in order to secure both our and your development. While we appreciate someone with a EPA qualification, it is equally important that you have an interest and aptitude for structure, processes, and data handling, and that you do not shy away from administrative work. Interacting with our Product Development department to educate and harvest new inventions while being the bridge to outside Patent Counsel for handling the patent portfolio will be a big part of your daily work. You will also collaborate with Sales and Marketing regarding trademark and brand protection as well as interacting with Legal. You will report directly to the IP Manager.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Being responsible for Mips’ internal IP management system
- Preparing data to support decision making
- Handling patent applications in collaboration with external patent attorneys
- Conducting novelty searches
- Harvesting and managing invention disclosures
- Participating in freedom-to-operate (FTO) searches
- Conducting competitor patent monitoring
- Being responsible for brand protection in cooperation with external service provider
- Providing IP education to the organization
Who We’re Looking For
- You have has a Master's degree in engineering or equivalent, preferably in a relevant technical field
- You have at least 3 years of experience working with patents
- You are fluent in spoken and written English, and preferably also Swedish, as both languages are used in the daily work
- You are structured, quality-conscious, problem-solving and collaborative
- You like working independently and take own initiative, while also enjoying team work with different stakeholders
It is desirable if you:
- Have previous experience working with patents in a company's patent department as an in-house patent attorney/patent engineer
- Have experience working with any IP management system, such as Ipendo or similar
- Have a European Patent Attorney qualification
